When does the most happen in Emmentaler AOP production?

We currently produce Monday-Thursday in the morning (10:10 a.m. filling) and Friday-Sunday in the morning and afternoon (10:10 a.m. and 3:10 p.m. filling). Find out more about our daily production times here.

If production takes place in the morning and afternoon, observing the following processes is particularly recommended:

  • 10:10a.m. Filling: The modern way of filling the curd into the press.
  • 01:00p.m. Renneting: The active ingredient rennet is added to the milk and the milk becomes thick.
  • 01:40p.m. Pre-cheesemaking: The curd is cut with the harp.
  • 03:10p.m. Bottling: The modern way of putting the curds into the press.

The production is visible from the shop, at any time and free of charge.

Of course, you will find the answer to this question with us ;-) e.g. on the King's Way, at the fresh cheese workshop or during a guided tour of the show dairy.

The largest cheese counter in the region awaits you in the store with around 100 different varieties of Emmentaler AOP and other Swiss cheeses. A tasting of different Emmentaler AOP ripeness is included in the King's Way. If you would like to try a particular cheese from the counter, please ask our staff in the store.

How much time should you allow for the visit?

The visit to the Emmental show dairy is very individual. If you take the King's Way tour, look at the premises and shop in the store, you will need about one to two hours. But you should also plan a break in the restaurant, because sooner or later you will get a craving for a fine Emmental dish ;-)
